Grasshopper Celebrates Lancashire Night

29th November 2019

The Grasshopper Micropub in Sandon Road, Southport celebrates Lancashire Day tonight 29th November 2019.

This has become something of a tradition for the Grasshopper and this is the 4th consecutive year that the event will be held. Previous events have raised nearly £1000 for charities and good causes and this event is to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

The historic county of Lancashire runs from the River Duddon in the north and the River Mersey in the south. Notwithstanding the 1974 administrative boundary changes, you are first and foremost a Lancastrian if you were born in the traditional county.

Tonight here will be an array Lancashire beers on offer from Lancaster, Bolton, Burnley, Wigan and even our own Southport brewery. There will be some ‘Reet gudd’ Lancashire entertainment with Lancashire folk music, a hotpot (of course), a raffle for a hamper of Lancashire Goodies, a quiz on all things Lancashire, and finishing off with the loyal proclamation to the Duke of Lancashire.

Lancastrian dress is encouraged and the evening gets going at 7:30pm.

Lancashire Day is celebrated throughout the county. For more information visit wwwfriendsofreallancashire.co.uk
