Grandparent’s Christmas gift to Children’s Ward
Christmas came early to the Children’s Ward at Ormskirk hospital when Tony and Lynn Lee presented them with a mountain of toys donated by the congregation of St. Michael’s All Angels, Dalton and Ashurst in Skelmersdale.
Tony and Lynn have been organising the toy service at their church every year since their grandson Harry (now five) was admitted at six weeks old and subsequently diagnosed with brittle asthma, a severe form of the disease. Harry is now a regular visitor to the ward.
Tony said: “We are very grateful to the staff on the Children’s Ward, in Children’s Accident and Emergency and outpatients for their excellent care of Harry.
“The toy service is held every year and our congregation is very generous as you can see! I hope the children enjoy the toys throughout the year and they go some way to making their experience more enjoyable.”
Play specialists Amanda Walker and Caroline Birtwell accepted the toys on behalf of the ward. They are pictured with Tony Lee and patient Kyla Foley.
