Golfing Championship Returns to Sefton

The event, which took place on Sunday, June 5, was hailed a great success with 14 clubs from across the Wirral, St Helens, Liverpool and Sefton entering teams.

In the Team Gross event Bootle Golf Club were crowned champions, while James Olsen from the team won the individual prize for Best Net score.

Many of those in attendance were impressed with the quality of the Sefton Council owned course, with John Morgan, Bootle Golf Club Captain 2016, commenting that it was ‘the best he has seen the course in 40 years of playing.’

Frank Redhead, Secretary of the Association of Merseyside Municipal Golf Clubs, added: “I would like to thank the Greens staff for producing a great course which was in magnificent shape.”

Declan Kearney, Sefton Council Senior Parks Officer, said: “We are delighted to bring this great event back to Bootle Golf Course.

“Sefton Council has made significant investment into the course and I would like to thank the Landscape Groups green staff team who worked tirelessly to get it in such tip top condition.”
