Golfer Sean Towndrow secures second place in prestigious King Hamad Trophy, Bahrain

5th December 2019

OTS  News are pleased to welcome Sean Towndrow back to Southport having finished second in the King Hamad Trophy, Bahrain.

Sean led the event from day one securing rounds of 66, 67 and 70 to finish 13 under par for the tournament. In dramatic fashion Sean sunk a twenty foot putt, in front of the watching gallery, at the last hole to tie first and force a play off with Luke Joy.

It was Sean’s first play off since he won the Euro Tour Pentahotels Championship earlier in the season. Unfortunately, in this weeks tournament he did not prevail and instead finished runner up.

OTS can report that the rounds were 5 hours long, in 32 degree heat and strong winds, it was therefore true test of endurance for Southport’s homegrown talent.

Sean said, “It’s great to end the season on a high, it was tough conditions out there but I battled hard and gave it my best. The competition was ran so well and I congratulate Luke on his victory. I must thank my brother Graeme who served loyally as my caddy and didn’t complain about his blisters once.”
