Ground crews are working to recover a BMW from the grounds of Hesketh Golf Club in Southport this morning, after apparently veering off the road and crashing through wooden guard rails on Hesketh Road.
The vehicle came to a stop on the golf course itself, where recovery crews, including a digger and utility vehicle, were seen working to remove it earlier today.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear however wooden fencing at the junction of Hesketh Road and Fleetwood Road has been visibly damaged.
The BMW had come to a stop between the 8th and 9th holes.
The immediate area surrounding the crash site has been cordoned off with tape, though nearby roads including Hesketh Road and Fleetwood Road remained open to traffic.
Merseyside Police told OTS News: “We were contacted at 11.25pm last night, Thursday 22 January, following reports of a road traffic collision involving a BMW which had ended up on a golf course close to Hesketh Road in Southport.
“The driver is reported to have left the scene but has since been spoken to and work is ongoing to remove the car.”
