Godleman, Slater and Amla put Derbyshire in a strong position against Lancashire on the opening day at Trafalgar Road.

After choosing to bat first the visitors had the better of the opening day’s play closing on 335-9 off 97 overs, thanks to valuable contributions.

Billy Godleman (75), Ben Slater (69), South Africa Test batsman Hashim Amla (69), Chesney Hughes (37), Tom Taylor (21) and Wigan all rounder Matt Critchley (13 not out). Whilst Northern’s Tom Bailey finished with figures of 3-37, Kyle Jarvis 3-110 , Ormskirk spinner Simon Kerrigan 2-33 and Jordan Clark 1-61. Lancashire will hope to take the final Derbyshire wicket early on tomorrow morning and then try and build a lead with the bat during the rest of the day.

Play is due to start at 11am and there will be tickets available to purchase on the gate.
