Get up, get out and get fit with Active Sefton this Summer!

The Active Sefton team have been very busy putting together an action packed schedule of Summer activities for Sefton residents to try out.

First up is the Active Sefton 5K at Crosby Lakeside on June 15. This fun event of two laps around the lake is always brilliantly attended and is followed by a BBQ on the decking (weather permitting). Entries for Active Workforce members is £25 per team of 5 or £5 per individual and the cost for non members is £35 per public team of 5 or £7.50 for an individual. Registration will start from 5pm, with the race starting at 6pm.

For those who might benefit from a little training for the big event, the Active Sefton team have a successful couch to 5K programme which is designed to get you running none stop for 30 minutes. There are various sessions offered so please get in touch to get involved.

Sticking with running, the Aintree Summer fun run returns this year on Sunday, July 2. A 2.5K race begins at 11am and is open to children aged 5+ and adults can run with children free of charge. The 5K will start at 12pm and entry to both races is £5 per person.

Please visit sefton.gov.uk/running for full details on all running events.

For those who prefer to get their feet wet, why not have a go at the growing sport of open water swimming down at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre? Open to competent adult swimmers, sessions start on June 5 and run from 6.30pm – 7.30pm and a six week course costs £30. Call 0151 934 2355 to register.

If you fancy something a little more gentle paced, why not Take A Walk on the Lakeside? These free hour long walks are open to all and take place on a Wednesday from 10am-11am. Participants are asked to just turn up and meet at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre five minutes before the walk starts.

Walking football is growing in popularity and is on offer at Dunes Splash World in Southport every Friday between 11am – 12pm. This is open to adults aged 50+ and is a great way to get back into football, or a great excuse to give it a go for the first time.

This is just a snippet of what is on offer across the borough. To view all activities, please visit sefton.gov.uk/activesefton.
