What’s On | Gems in the Dunes – Summer Events 2019

Join our Gems in the Dunes team this summer on a series of events and activities. Covering the entire length of the Sefton Sand Dunes, you will be taken around some truly unique sites and discover the ‘Gems in the Dunes’! With something for everyone, booking is essential to avoid disappointment.

Guided walks and family events:

The history of Hightown – Join us to find out about this often ignored area of dune and all its hidden secrets.

Tuesday 13th August @ 6pm-8pm – end of Blundell Road, Hightown

Devil’s Hole at dusk – A sunset walk through National Trust Formby’s reserve to one of the coasts most interesting features.

Tuesday 20th August @ 6pm-8pm – Jubilee Road, Formby

Mini-beast mayhem – A fun activity hunting and crafting mini-beasts! Can you race a Tiger beetle, the fastest insect on the coast? Or create a bug work of art!

Wednesday 21st August @ 1pm-3pm – Ainsdale Discovery Centre

World in miniature – Can you find the smallest plants and animals on the coast – maybe a mini lettuce or a speedy beetle. Take a closer look and create your own mini dune-scape!

Wednesday 28th August @ 1pm-3pm – Ainsdale Discovery Centre

Batty about bats – A chance to join local ‘bat man’ for an evening walk learning about the bats of the coast.

Thursday 29th August @ 7.45pm-10pm – Ainsdale Discovery Centre
