Weʼre raising £750 to Help Raise Money for Rehabilitation & Equipment for Emerson Grant.

Fundraising for a 22 month old little boy who was misdiagnosed and is now immobile from the waist down.

Adam Leatherbarrow told OTSNews.co.uk: “This story is about my girlfriends little cousin who was told he was suffering with teething, only to be later told in another hospital that he had a cyst on his spinal cord. He is now immobile from the waist down and their lives have been turned upside down.

“Over the past few months our family has experienced some tough times!

“My girlfriend & I have decided to fund-raise by taking on the 3 Yorkshire Peak Challenge. This includes climbing Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough. This challenge consists of over 24 miles of walking and 5200ft of climbing. We are planning to do this on 14/11/2016 starting at 05:00.

“We are doing this to raise as much money as possible to help fund towards Emerson’s rehabilitation, medical bills and equipment costs.”

“Emerson Grant was a healthy 22 month old toddler who just received his first medal and certificate from his recently joined football club KiddiKicks.

“On 15th August 2016, Emerson was mis-diagnosed with a cyst on his spine, however not before he lost the use of his lower body.”

“Life has changed dramatically for Emerson and his family because of where the cyst was positioned on his spine means Emerson still has no feeling in the lower part of his body (C6/C7 T2- Tetraplegia).

“He is now classed as disabled-incomplete and will require many years of rehabilitation, it is unknown if Emerson will be able to walk again but the doctors are positive and say that there is a good chance of Emerson regaining his mobility, through physio therapy and the use of specialist equipment.

“He is already able to move his arms and now his family will concentrate on working on his legs /lower trunk and bowel management, but this requires time, equipment, physio therapy and hydro therapy, which is a limited service through the NHS.”

“Emerson will never gain 100% mobility back but his family are not giving up hope.

“Every little penny will help towards Emerson’s future & brighten up his little face by helping him have a comfortable environment to support his needs.

“We have set a target of £500 & will be over whelmed if we reached this. All contributions will be greatly appreciated & remembered.

“We thank everyone for their kind support & donations.

“Kelly & Adam
