On Saturday the 6th of September in Southport, there will be a fundraising day in memory of David Watling who died 10 years ago, which has been organised by his son Karl, 25 and daughter Rebecca, 20 with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
The day will begin from 11.30am at Ainsdale 3G pitches with a 7 aside football tournament called the ‘Dave Watling Cup’ which has been organised by David’s good old friends Lucien Gilbert, Paul Wilson and Mally Porter.
While the tournament is playing there will also be food supplied by Holmes-Smith Butchers and entertainment for all the family including bouncy castles and face painting provided by Bounce Around Southport all which has been provided at a reduced cost in aid of the charity.
Everyone is welcome and anyone interested in entering a team into the tournament can do so by contacting one of the organisers, the minimum payment is £45 per team.
Then from 6pm it’s to The Coronation Pub, Southport. Where David’s 2 children have organised a party night which will include music till late with DJ Neil Yates who has kindly offered his services free of charge and entertainment, including a raffle and auction with some great prizes up for grabs.

His son Karl who works as a chef at Southport Hospital has been fundraising in work and through Facebook and has already raised almost £500, which was the original target.
They now hope to raise in excess of £2,000 and make it a day that nobody will forget and in a way that Dave would have wanted.
