Fugitive caught hiding behind a sofa in Southport

A not so smart prison escapee has been caught in Southport after hiding behind a sofa.

Lewis Appleby was discovered by officers who joked that they’d beaten him at a game of hide and seek after he tried to evade capture by hiding behind a sofa.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said:

“Lewis Appleby now arrested and on his way back to prison after losing a game of hide and seek. He was found hiding behind the couch at an address in the Southport area. Unlucky Lewis.”
