November 27, On this date in 1295 the first elected representatives from Lancashire were called to Westminster by King Edward 1 to attend what later became known as “The Model Parliament” and the start of democracy.
The traditional county boundaries have never changed and the River Mersey is the boundary between Lancashire and Cheshire and Lancashire’s five cities are Lancaster, Liverpool, Preston, Manchester and Salford.
