Fred Talbot sentenced to five years in prison

Fred Talbot has been sentenced to five years in prison for indecently assaulting young boys.

Former weather presenter Fred Talbot has been found guilty of indecently assaulting two boys when he was a teacher.

Talbot showed no emotion in response to the verdicts, which related to two victims who was aged 14 or 15 in the 1970’s.

The 65-year-old, who was known to millions for his forecasts on a floating weather map for ITV’s This Morning show, was described as a “chancer” in Court.

He showed no emotion as he was led from the dock down to the cells to begin his sentence.

He is told that he will be considered for parole after two and a half years

Mr Talbot and his TV crew often visit Southport when working for Granada.
