Formby man arrested following a firearms incident in Bootle

Merseyside Police has arrested a man in Formby, on suspicion of possession of a firearm and assault following an incident in Bootle this afternoon (Wednesday, 19 April 2017).

Officers were called to Miranda Road shortly before 11am to a report that a man had assaulted a woman. A short time later the same man was reported to be carrying what appeared to be a firearm at the junction of Bedford Road and Miranda Road.

The man then made off in a silver-coloured car in the direction of Stanley Road.

Specialist officers were deployed and a search of the area took place.

A 45-year-old man from Formby was arrested a short time later in Formby on suspicion of possession of a firearm. He has been taken to a police station in Merseyside to be interviewed.
