Planning permission recieved to create Formby Hall world-class destination resort

Approval has been given for Formby Hall Golf Resort & Spa’s planning application that will see its current top-end facilities transformed into a ‘world-class, multi-purpose resort’ through a multi million pound development that will place it firmly on the map as one of the best golf, spa and leisure destinations in the UK.

The approval will see the construction of a new two-storey golf clubhouse, event space with capacity for 300 guests, extended bar and restaurant facilities, a new reception building, re-configured health club and an extensive spa, including four lakeside eco-lodges. In addition, there will also be a new two-storey building housing 43 additional ensuite guest rooms with balconies or patios overlooking landscaped gardens and the golf course, plus a further 20 ensuite guest rooms as part of the conversion of the current spa and leisure building.

In addition to world-class golf, the new spa facilities will be a key attraction of the Resort and will present an ideal setting for a relaxing break or spa day. Guests will be able to enjoy a ‘state of the art’ spa set in a picturesque setting alongside one of the Resort’s lakes, with a design intended to make it feel as though the property is floating on water. The spa will comprise 12 treatment rooms, several relaxation areas with stunning views across the lake, an extensive suite of thermal experiences, indoor and outdoor vitality pools and hot tubs, internal and alfresco dining on an extensive external terrace, a deck over the water with sunken fire pits and luxury day beds offering guests a perfect view across the lake.

The design takes its inspiration from its local surroundings, fitting perfectly amongst the countryside lakes and woodland. Located in the heart of England’s Golf Coast, the new resort will be a world leader in golfing excellence and spa expertise. This investment will ensure the continued development of Sefton and Merseyside as a prime leisure destination, bringing economic growth and additional employment opportunities.

When speaking about the approved plans, director of CS Hotel Solutions, Christopher King, commented, “It has been great to have the support of Sefton Council in approving our plans, and we are grateful that they have been able to share our vision and ambitions for the Resort. We are confident that these redevelopment plans will not only reposition the Resort as a world-class destination, it will also further enhance the region’s attractions to tourism, which already boasts some of the best golf courses in the world including Open venues, as well an outstanding coastline and of course the major draw of Liverpool itself”.
