Firefighters rescue race horse stuck in ditch

FIREFIGHTERS came to the rescue of an unlucky race horse who had got stuck in a ditch in Altcar near Formby.

Crews were called to Altcar near Formby, at 12:30pm this afternoon (Tuesday 9th October 2012) after reports of a race horse stuck in a ditch.

A digger was also used to help the horse.

Firefighters worked for more than two hours to rescue the distressed race horse called Larrylauf belived to be from the Peter Grayson stables.

Using a hauling system, the rescue team waded through thick mud in order to get frightened Larrylauf to safety.

Larrylauf was eventually pulled out of the ditch suffering from exhaustion and superficial cuts.
