Firefighters move into Southport Community Fire & Ambulance Station

Firefighters have now moved into the newly built Southport Community Fire & Ambulance Station on Manchester Road, Southport

Removal men moved equipment into the new building today (Wednesday 12th June 2013).

Work started last May with the old fire and ambulance stations being demolished to make way for the new multi-purpose building.

Fire crews have been operating from the old magistrates’ court next door for the past 12 months

Funded through a Private Finance Initiative, builders Balfour Beatty will maintain the new building for 25 years before handing it over to Merseyside Fire Authority.

Onthespot managed to photograph the very first fire engine out of the new fire station!
