Fire crews have been called to Chapel Street tonight after a fire broke out at the rear of JD Sports and Chase Menswear.
The popular shopping street was filled with smoke as a biffa bin caught alight in suspicious circumstances around 7pm this evening.
The area, formerly the delivery bay of Woolworths, is a popular area for chance smokers and beggars to congregate away from prying eyes.
Firefighters were only on scene for around 15 minutes and quickly extinguished the fire before it spread.
