Fire crews in jaws of life dash to save driver from death

Fire crews have used the jaws of life to save a driver of a wrecked car after they collided into a lamppost in Westcliffe Road.

Two cars were involved in the smash which led to one of them colliding with a lamppost.

The force of the impact was so sever fire crews had to cut the roof of one of the cars

following the smash to free the driver.

Emergency services were called to the scene and paramedics have taken a number of people to hospital for their injuries.

The road is open but delays are likely while the wreck is cleared.
