A group of fundraisers is bringing Christmas to Southport and inviting people to a Festive Coffee Morning to raise funds for a local cancer charity.

On 28th November the Southport Committee of North West Cancer Research (NWCR) is inviting guests to enjoy mince pies with freshly brewed coffee. There will also be a stall selling NWCR Christmas cards. With traditional Christmas scenes, the cards are the perfect way to wish loved ones a ‘Merry Christmas’ whilst raising money for the charity. North West Cancer Research Incorporating Clatterbridge Cancer Research is made up of a merger between North West Cancer Research Fund and Clatterbridge Cancer Research. Olive Cutts, Chair of the Southport Committee said: “Christmas is less than a month away so we’re inviting the community to embrace the festive spirit and join us at this coffee morning. Not only will people get to enjoy some festive treats they will also be helping us raise money for the charity.”

Anne Jackson, Chief Executive of NWCR said: “We can’t thank the Southport Committee enough for organising this coffee morning. It is the dedication and generosity of our committees that enables us to fund high quality, innovative research.

“Our recent merger means that we are able to increase the areas of research that we fund; hence the areas of investigation into cancer will broaden and will result in a more substantial cancer research funding body here in the North West.”

The Festive Coffee Morning will be held at Masonic Hall, Duke Street, Southport, Merseyside PR8 1LS on Wednesday 28th November from 10.30am – 12.00 noon. Entrance is £3.50 on the door.
