Far Away Land Festival taking place in Victoria Park this weekend!

27th June 2022
Andy and The Oddsocks are among attractions at the Far Away Land Festival in Southport

Victoria Park in Southport will be transformed into a magical fairytale village as the Far Away Land family festival rolls into town!

The event takes place on Saturday, 2nd July 2022 and Sunday, 3rd July 2022 with a huge array of entertainment for children (and adults!) of all ages.

Visitors can enjoy:

  •  live music from CBeebies favourites Andy and The Oddsocks
  • Yolanda’s Band Jam
  • Horrible Histories Live
  • Jurassic Live Dinosaur Show
  • Shlomo’s Beatbox Adventure
  • Roald Dahl Imagination Seekers
  • live high flying wrestling
  • assault course
  • graffiti workshop, with a huge graffiti wall
  • a kids comedy show
  • Plus a huge immersive Lego City!

Not only that, but Far Away Land has teamed up with autism charity Autism In Motion, to create a huge Calm and Sensory Zone for children who might become overwhelmed and need a little respite from the festival fun.

There will also be a Food and Market Village, with tons of independent stalls from delicious donuts to lip licking Lebanese treats.

This year’s fancy dress theme is to come as your favourite characters from books or TV.

Fancy dress shop Smiffys is giving out vouchers to its favourites – with a fancy dress catwalk to be held each day too!

The whole Far Away Land family festival runs from 11am til 6pm on both Saturday and Sunday, and both days’ entertainment are the same – so it doesn’t matter which day you go, you’ll still get to enjoy all the fun!

Far Away Land Festival organiser Andy Scott said: “We have been working on bringing this event to Southport for the past three years – we are really excited to open it!

“This is going to be a brilliant new event for Southport. We are looking forward to making this an annual event.

“We have: Andy and the Oddsocks; Yolanda’s Band Jam; Horrible Histories; the Jurassic Live Dinosaur Show, with a 7-metre tall Tyrannosaurus Rex roaming the park; wrestling, which is really popular; a 100 metre long graffiti wall, which children will be able to add to throughout the weekend; a huge LEGO city that they will be able to help build; there is so much stuff happening!

“We have got lots of great food and drink stalls coming too, supporting our region’s local independent businesses, with the UK Independents Day taking place that weekend.

“Victoria Park is a great place to sit back and enjoy some food and we will have a variety of vendors, including vegan and gluten free options.

“We are turning Victoria Park into a Far Away Land, which will make visitors feel they are walking into a fairytale land when they walk in – they are really going to enjoy the weekend!”
