Southport-based author and broadcaster John Keith’s new novel “The Shankly Conspiracy” is published this month by Pegasus Books.
John, a well known Merseyside football journalist of over sixty years will join Liverpool FC legend Ian Callaghan to sign copies of the book at Waterstones in Chapel Street, Southport from 1pm on Saturday, August 2nd.
“I’ve written 33 books, mainly on football, but this is my first novel, “ says John.
“It is blend of fact and fiction with a storyline that embraces football, the Elgin Marbles, the Greek dictatorship and, of course, Bill Shankly, a man I was privileged to know well.
“The book is a thriller with Bill the target for a Greek group who see him as a bargaining tool in their fight to have the Marbles returned from Britain to Athens from where they stolen by a Scottish aristocrat, Lord Elgin. But Bill has a shock in store…”
