Southport shoppers are being asked to make sure they double check the ID of magazine salesmen on Lord Street after police we’re called to a suspected fake magazine seller near Sainsburys today.
Police were called after shoppers at the store were intimidated by a man selling magazines purporting to be from the Armed Forces charity ahead of the remembrance services next month but when challenged to show he was official, the man became abusive and reluctant.
Police were called after suspicions were aroused and an investigation is underway.
