A man has sadly died after suffering a medical episode on Ainsdale beach.
Eyewitnesses to the traumatic and tragic incident which happened yesterday say they watched on helplessly as ‘heroic’ volunteers gave the man CPR.
Police and paramedics were called to the beach after reports that a man in his 50s was suffering from a suspected heart attack.
Onlookers told OTS that beach rangers and some members of the public raced over to give the man first aid, with one individual administering CPR.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s next of kin have been informed. A file has been passed to the coroner.
