Generous visitors to this year’s Sefton Council run Southport Air Show and British Musical Fireworks Championship have donated more than £1,529 to local charities.

Sefton4Good used both the highly successful Air Show and Fireworks Championship to fundraise for their charity by giving customers the option of adding £1 to their online ticket purchase.

As a result they raised £1,529 which help fund a number of local charities. This includes: Sefton Children’s Trust, Home Start Southport, Crosby & Waterloo in Bloom, St Leonards Youth and Community Centre Foodbank, Seaforth Community Shop, Southport Foodbank, Southport Soup Kitchen and Dreams for Children.

Cllr Ian Maher, Cabinet Member Regeneration and Tourism, said: “Thank you so much to all the people who kindly donated money for local charities through this excellent scheme.

“So many charities will benefit from a simple contribution made buying tickets for two amazing events in Sefton.

“Both the Air Show and British Musical Fireworks Championship attracted record breaking crowds this year and I am sure both events will be just as successful in 2015.”

Sefton 4 Good is a charity initiative from Sefton CVS. It encourages local people to come together and give their time, skills, money and resources to help local good causes.

It is about community groups, charities, social enterprises, businesses and individuals working together to form partnerships that are, ultimately, less dependent on statutory and grant funding. For more information visit www.sefton4good.org/
