Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a serious incident at a town centre supermarket tonight.

Emergency first responders from Merseyside Police and the North West Ambulance service were called to Asda on Central 12 tonight following fears that a shopper had suffered from a heart attack.

Paramedics and police dashed to the scene while heroic quick thinking staff from Asda reportedly used a defibrillator on the patient while waiting for medical back up.

A curtain was erected around the scene to protect crews and the patient from shoppers enetering and leaving Asda.

The patient was given medical attention and treatment on scene for at least ten minutes before being transferred into a waiting ambulance and taken to Southport hospital.

Eye witnesses told OTS News they saw emotional staff at the supermarket running to the aid of the shopper and providing assurance to emergency service personnel.
