A male has been rescued by emergency services after he found himself in a life threatening situation in the sea waters off the coast of Southport beach.
Fire crews, ambulance, the coastguard and a team from Southport Offshore Rescue Trust raced to the scene before after 6.30 after a member of the public reported a male in distress.
He was brought back to shore by the Southport lifeboat team and taken to hospital after receiving emergency treatment on the beach.
