Early Christmas present for someone over Sainsbury’s
Either the developer or the objectors to the Sainsbury’s Kew superstore proposal may receive an early Christmas present depending upon which way the new Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government jumps.
People in Southport who gave evidence at the Public Inquiry into the proposal have been notified that it is the intention to have a Ministerial decision on the proposal published on or before December 8th.
Lib Dem Deputy Leader Councillor Tony Dawson, who is worried about the effect on the northern part of the town centre if Sainsbury’s move their focus from Lord Street to Kew, says:
“It is unfortunate that this decision has taken such a long time, whichever way you think it should go. Whatever the Minister decides, this decision will have a crucial effect upon Lord Street and the town centre as a whole.”
