Drivers warned of severe coastal road flooding

3rd October 2020

Large parts of the Coastal Road between Marshside and Marine Drive are heavily flooded with cars being forced to drive way under the speed limit to avoid accident.

Over 14 hours of heavy rain mean that parts of the busy coastal road, where cars drive up to 50mph, are submerged.

The uneven camber of the road surface mean deep pools of water are forming and storm drainage currently can take the excess water quick enough.

This is resulting in some tailbacks and drivers considerably reducing their speed to try and avoid an accident.

Motorists are currently advised to avoid the Coastal Road until the rainwater subsides.
