A lorry driver has escaped without serious injury after his van ended up ditched off a small farm road in Birkdale.
The haulage heavy goods vehicle ended up irreversibly stuck in a ditch off Wyke Cop Road in Birkdale late last night and specialist recovery vehicles had to be brought out to assist in dragging the van back onto the road.
As of 8am this morning Wyke Cop Road remained closed while recovery teams waited for better light conditions to drag the van out of the ditch.
