David Lonsdale lends a hand at the Second Chance Shop opening.

David Lonsdale today was the special guest opening the Second Chance Shop in Birkdale.

Ruth Wareing told OTS News: “The Second Chance shop is situated on Liverpool Road just past the Four Seasons opposite Tesco”.

“The shop sells goods and stock greatly donated by people and all sales are used to to raise funds to support our non profit organisation.

“Please come along and support our new venture”.

The Learning Rooms CIC run Four Seasons Garden Centre and it is used as a progression route for our clients, the environment is a perfect setting for our client group to use, develop and extend their skills in a retail and catering setting.

The Learning Rooms CIC is a non profit making organisation offering day provision to adults with additional needs. Horticulture and garden maintenance, floristry, photography, arts and crafts, sports, woodwork, customer service, small animal care, retail and catering training is on offer and there is a small cafe serving the local community.

Until 2010, Lonsdale played David Stockwell in the long-running television series Heartbeat. He also played Peter Barlow in Coronation Street in 1986, and appeared in a minor role as a repo man in the 1997 feature film The Full Monty.

In 2011, he appeared again in Coronation Street in a minor role working for a solicitor. In November 2011, Lonsdale appeared in the medical drama Casualty.

He returned to Coronation Street for the third time in May 2012, this time playing Edwin Soames.[1] He now presents a Sunday morning show, The Southport Arts Show, on community radio station Mighty FM. He married his wife, Diane, in 1993.
