Dangerous electrical wiring has been left exposed on Hoghton Street

Dangerous electrical wiring has been left exposed on Hoghton Street in Southport town centre.

The wiring, which should be safely tucked away in a special locked junction box has been left exposed after the junction was left unsecured by a telephone company contractor working on the site yesterday near to the junction of Mornington Road.

A witness who took photos of the box and later reported it to British Telecom said: “Luckily there were no exposed copper or anything but you could hear a slight hum and there was definitely some current running through it.

“I was passing with my children and holy trinity school is only close by.

“If a child was wandering past to or from a summer club then they could be very inquisitive and touch it.

“They’re not usually so exposed. It’s definitely a health risk”.
