Cyclists wheelie confused over Chapel Street signage

19th September 2020

Cyclists say they couldn’t ‘help but laugh’ after noticing a glaring error on a brand new pop up cycle lane in the town centre.

For years cycling has been supposedly banned along Chapel Street with signs along the pedestrianised street telling people to get off their bikes.

But recently thanks to a new government initiative, more cycle routes are being installed in the town.

One of them has now been installed on Chapel Street in a bid to help boost fitness, increase green transport and help commuters social distance.

Unfortunately those who installed the new cycle lane have set cyclists in a spin after leaving up dozens of ‘No Cycling’ signs next to the pop up cycle lanes.

One avid cyclist, Andy Connaught, sent this image into OTS News saying “I couldn’t help but burst out laughing when I saw this.

“I think the cycle lanes are a great idea but this tickled me. What are we supposed to do?

“It’s like something from a Two Ronnies Sketch.”
