Cruel council plan to shut popular park for longer each year

15th April 2020

Heartless council bosses have enraged local dog walkers and campaigners after sneaking in plans to extend the amount of time Victoria Park is shut to the public.

The grand and well used park may now be shut for over 130 days a year after the council reportedly began plans to extend the powers of the Southport Flower Show committee who manage the park.

Campaigner Ann Marie Willetts said that she finds it appalling that council officers could “do this to us at this horrible time.”

She added “Local people fought many years ago to keep this amenity open for our use when the company tried this before. Please don’t let them screw us again.”
