A Crime Alert for the residents of Southport from Merseyside Police

2nd September 2017

Burglaries

In the past fortnight burglaries or attempted burglaries have taken place in Knob Hall Lane, Knowsley Road, The Promenade.

Bogus caller

In the Albert Road area of Southport a female described as about 35 years of age, 5’6” in height, a fairly thin face with an olive complexion, black hair tied back, wearing a navy blue top with a supermarket logo and navy trousers, called at a house in the area. She introduced herself as living in the flats across the road and referred by name to two neighbours she knew.

She asked for £10 as she needed the money for her electricity and stated she would pay the money back once her husband got home from work. In the afternoon she had a small boy with her about 4 or 5 years old. He was wearing blue trousers with a light blue top.

In the evening she returned to visit other houses in the road without the child. Because she named the neighbours, money was given to her on the understanding she would call back and repay the money. She never returned, she did not live at the flats nor was she known to the neighbours she named.
