Crime Alert for the residents of North Southport from Merseyside Police

13th July 2018

Crime Alert for the residents of North Southport from Merseyside Police.

Thefts from vehicles

Between the 27th June and the 11th July vehicle have been broken into or left insecure in the following locations:

Waterloo Road, Grosvenor Road, Eastbourne Road, Dinorwic Road, Princes Street, Priory Gardens, Ruddington Road, Fairway.

Vehicles left insecure 5

In each incident items of value had been left in the vehicles. An opportunist will break into a vehicle if anything, even a plastic bag, is left on display just in case that bag contains something of value. Thieves will not waste their time on trying to enter a locked car that appears empty.

Windows and Hot Weather

When you are going out or at night before you go to bed, it is advisable to visit each room in the property to check the windows have been closed and locked. It is so easy to forget one window that has been left open when we are opening so many in this hot weather. Remember some insurance companies will refuse to pay on a claim if the house is broken into and any windows or doors have been left insecure.

Renewing policies

A resident received a telephone call to remind him that his washing machine policy was due to be renewed and would he like to renew it now over the phone. The householder didn’t think this was true and told the caller he would not renew it over the phone but wait for the usual renewal notice to arrive by post. He checked his policy and it was not due until later in the year. He contacted his insurer who told him that if the caller rings 20 people, at least one will renew giving the caller their bank details.
