Councillor secures shining success for Lord Street Ornamental Lamp Posts

10th February 2018

A Southport councillor has unanimously approved district funding for the 91 ornamental lamp posts at £11,375.00 from Duke Street to St. George’s Place.

Councillor David Barton, a prominent campaigner for the restoration and regeneration of Southport has achieved another victory in his long- standing Community Conservation Campaign here in the Southport Town Centre.

Councillor David Barton who first put forward the funding request for the thorough restorative works of Southport’s acclaimed Ornamental Lamp Posts on Lord Street back in 2014 said:

“It is a welcome pleasure to now see these prominent fixtures being granted the appropriate level of due care and support here in the local community.

Having long pressed for this much needed restoration since first raising this item back in 2014, it is my hope that others within and across the Private Sector may now take heed of the continuing shining example being set by the Public Sector here in our Classic Resort town.”
