Councillor Marianne Welsh who represents Southport on Merseyside’s Fire and Rescue Authority not only attended the Fire Stations recent Blue Light Open Day but decided to get some training whilst there in handling one of the powerful water hoses. Marianne, who represents Norwood ward had instruction on how to handle the extremely fast flowing hose.

Marianne said “Not only was it rather difficult to handle the hose, I had to knock three targets down three times, which I managed to do. I got soaked doing this as there was a heavy downpour when I started but I didn’t care as I really wanted to show willing and master using one of the water hoses that our brave firefighters use in the course of their duty when tackling fires.”
