2nd March 2020

Sefton Council have been forced to say sorry for flying a flag above Southport Town Hall which carried an anti-transgender and homophobic message.

The council have torn down a flag after coming in for stick online about the flag, which was created by a national anti trans group.

The council say they were asked to fly the flag under the pretence that it was International Women’s Day

LGBTQ campaigner say they are stunned it was allowed to fly.

One campaigner said “the flag sefton were flying is a hostile transphobic dog whistle, recognised as a symbol and brand of one of Britain’s most outspoken and visible trans-antagonists, and the leader of a transphobic hate group.”
