The British Musical Fireworks Championship is rapidly becoming one of the best events in the town’s calendar. After all, what’s better than watching colourful explosions in one of Southport’s best-known outdoor venues with some great music going on in the background?
With the event continuing to attract large crowds, it’s becoming an incredible opportunity for businesses in the area to attract more customers. Along with local companies offering special deals at the festival itself, hotels and restaurants in the area could put on deals to attract more visitors from out of town.

What is the British Musical Fireworks Championship?

There are a few in Southport who don’t know about the British Musical Fireworks Championship, but it could do more to promote itself more widely across the country. The event has been going on since 1999, with the 2026 festival set to mark 27 years in September.

The great thing about this festival is that it’s not your average fireworks display. Instead, it’s a competition that features professional pyrotechnic teams that create displays choreographed to music. Judges have to deem which performances are best based on how the firework displays look, but also how well they are timed to the music.

There are numerous incredible groups on display, with Optimum Fireworks recently crowned the Champion of Champions thanks to their expertise in perfectly synchronised pyrotechnics. Some other title winners over the years include Bright Sparks Fireworks and Pyrotex Fireworks.

Local Businesses Can Turn Out and Replicate Online-Style Promotions

The British Musical Fireworks Championship usually hosts a vast number of businesses that cater to the crowds, and acts as an annual economic boost to Southport. There is always a plethora of food and drink stores available, with many restaurants and businesses from the region setting up mini stalls to serve people.

Even though many businesses already turn out to the event, it feels like they could be doing so much more to take advantage of it. This is the perfect time for them to get in front of a big audience and present them with some special offers to get them interested. This is something that works well in online entertainment, where there’s more potential to reach a high number of people. For example, some bingo sites offer bonuses such as daily free spins and welcome offers to grab players’ attention. Businesses operating at the festival could opt for similar promotions, such as spinning prize wheels.

Restaurants and Hotels Could Offer Special Deals

When it comes to attracting people from far and wide, the British Musical Fireworks Championship is one of the best events that Southport offers. However, it has the potential to get even bigger if restaurants and hotels are savvy about their promotions in the lead-up to the weekend.

It would be great if some of these hospitality businesses could collaborate and offer package deals to guests coming from out of town. By labelling these as offers related to the festival, it could create a sense of urgency and encourage more people to visit.

With the British Musical Fireworks Championship seemingly improving every year, it’s time for businesses to capitalise and turn it into something even bigger. If it becomes associated with great offers and promotions, it could attract an even greater number of visitors.
