Coronation Street stars Roy Cropper and Mary visited Southport Flower Show “Coronation Street” Garden today (Friday 17th August 2012).

They posed for photographs, chatted to fans and signed autographs before giving interviews to the press.

Patti Clare (pictured above) has become a favourite with Coronation Street viewers since joining the soap in November 2008 as Weatherfield busybody Mary Taylor.
The Manchester-born actress had spent over a decade working in theatre before she made the transition to television with roles in shows including Young Dracula and Torchwood.
Her Coronation Street character Mary was originally penned to appear in just five episodes but was such a hit with audiences that she is now a regular at the Rovers Return.
Patti’s comic gift for portraying Mary’s unrequited love for Norris – and delivering her deadpan one-liners – was recognised with two awards last year. She picked up Best Comedy Performance in the 2011 British Soap Awards and Funniest Performance at the 2011 Inside Soap Awards.

David Neilson (pictured above) was born in Loughborough, studied drama at the London Central School of Speech and Drama and acted in repertory theatre.
David is best known for playing Roy Cropper in ITV1’s Coronation Street, but his other television credits include Z-Cars, Survivors, Sons and Lovers, Bergerac, Casualty (all for BBC), Blue Heaven (Channel 4), Boys from the Blackstuff (BBC 2) Secret Army (BBC & BRT) and Heartbeat (ITV) He also stared as Millington in the TV movies of the Charlie Resnick novels. He appeared briefly in EastEnders in the early 1990s, and in a celebrity edition of Stars in their Eyes as Roy Orbison. He has appeared in two Mike Leigh films: Life is Sweet and Secrets & Lies.
