Coronation Street actress Anne Kirkbride dies aged 60

Coronation Street star Anne Kirkbride, who has played Deirdre Barlow since 1972, has died aged 60. She was last seen in Southport on 15th February 2005.

Anne Kirkbride joined Coronation Street in the 1970s as Deirdre Barlow and went on to play the character for 44 years.

Known for her large glasses and husky voice, she soon became a favourite with fans of the show.
