Cops urge resort sex workers to report crimes

31st October 2019

Police in Southport wants to encourage people who work in the sex industry to report any crime-related activity they suffer.

Often sought out by dangerous individuals who can pose a risk to the public as a whole, sex workers are less likely to report crimes to the police.

They hope those who work in the sex industry will come forward so that specially trained officers in hate crime can treat victims with sensitivity and appoint a dedicated sex worker liaison officer to investigate reported crimes.

Sex workers are at greater risk of being subject to crime, including sexual and physical violence and harassment.
