Sefton Council is proposing to introduce charges for junior sports pitches to recover the costs of gas, electricity and water, as well as the costs of grounds maintenance such as pitch repairs, line marking and grass cutting.  This is because so much of the money the Council spends in Sefton comes from Government, and the reduction in Government funding is having a significant impact on their budget.
It is important that young people currently using these facilities and those that will use them in the future, their parents, the club officials and local residents all get to have their say about the proposed charges, and help us to identify ways of keeping costs down.

The aim is to:

· Get the views of parents and their children on whether they support the charge
· Explain the effect that any increase in charges will have on them
· Get ideas on how we can keep these charges to the minimum, and reduce the impact on them
