Commercial waste fire in Southport town centre

Commercial waste bins in Shorrock street in Southport  have been set on fire this morning, Monday 27 November 2017.

Commercial waste along with empty beer barrels were set alight near to the alleyway between Shorrock Street and Cambridge Arcade.

Despite business owners reporting to OTS News that the fire was started deliberately, Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services has now confirmed that it was started accidentally.

Police and fire crews have stepped up patrols recently after a dispersal order to get rid of gangs gathering in the area.
