Coffee shop Santa’s hat stolen by Christmas scrooges after 20 years on display

30th December 2021

A Southport coffee shop is launching an appeal to be reunited their famous Santa statue with his iconic red hat after it was stolen by scrooges.

Cranberry’s Coffee Shop staff were upset to find their Santa statue’s hat had been replaced by a scuffed and dirty imitation sometime on Christmas Eve, the first time something like this has happened in the 20 years the statue has stood there.

The Santa steal and switch took place inside Cambridge Walks arcade and cafe owners are now asking for the original hat to be returned.

Cafe staff said they were devastated by the theft.

They said: “Help us recovery Santa’s hat..

“Someone has stolen our wonderful Santa hat on Christmas
Eve, removed & replaced by a well worn inferior hat.

“Santa has been out on display for over 20 years & we have never had a problem until now.

“We’re all totally devastated & can’t believe that someone could be so callous. It’s not like it can be replaced as it’s vintage Santa.

“If someone has it or knows where it is we would be grateful for its return. No questions asked.”
