Churchtown Deli GIN is born

So Churchtown has its own Gin. Not to be outdone, the local delicatessen, the Churchtown Deli approached Birkdale Craft Distillery to have their very own blend. It seemed a perfect fit. The Deli, which is licenced to sell alcohol for off-premises sales already hosts wine tasting evening and has been the main site where customers can buy bottles of Churchtown Gin. They specialise in stocking produce from Churchtown, Southport and surrounding areas and the temptation to have their own locally sourced Gin brand, chosen by their customers was too much to resist.

It was a smaller more intimate tasting than previous ones, due to limited space. 13 eager tasters including regular customers and local retailers packed into the Deli and tasted 5 blend variations built around the original Birkdale Gin. It was an incredibly tight score and not without controversy, with calls for re-voting. The blend with the highest score also caused the greatest division, but after a revote it was confirmed as the winner.

Churchtown Deli Gin is now on sale alongside Churchtown Gin in the Churchtown Deli on Botanic Road in Churchtown – just in time for the sunny weather.
