Churchill Retirement Living lends its support to local beach clean

A team from Churchill Retirement Living’s new Trinity Lodge development in Formby have been caring for the coastline by helping out at a local beach clean.

Nicky Clare, Sue Dobson and Felicity Bowyer from the development on Lonsdale Road, all signed up for the Marine Conservation Society’s Beach Clean, where they spent a morning at Formby’s Freshfield Beach helping to clear the sand and dunes of discarded litter.

They joined more than 30 local litter pickers who collected everything from cotton buds, wrappers, tin cans and fishing nets to more unusual items. In total, the team helped to collect 28 bags of rubbish on the day containing 130kg of rubbish.

Nicky Clare, Area Sales Manager at Churchill Retirement Living, said: “Some of our best-loved marine wildlife is under threat from the waste and litter in our seas, with hundreds of species accidentally eating or becoming entangled in litter, so we felt it was important to play our part.

“The Big Beach Clean-up is all about bringing the local community together to help protect marine life and the environment, and we were delighted to have the chance to be involved this year. It was a fantastic morning seeing people working together, having fun and supporting such a great cause, and we hope we made a real difference to preserving this beautiful beach.”
