Christ the King Catholic high school hit the golf course with golf lessons at Formby Golf Centre.

The programme was was organised by teacher, Mr Weaver with the aim to give all students a complete introduction to golf.  Using the golf Xtreme equipment the tuition sessions provide the student with a wide range of information ranging from the basic set up (grip, posture), to the full swing as well as the basic rules and etiquette of the sport.

These lessons allow the students to learn about the different clubs and strokes in the sport including putting and driving.  It is hoped that by giving the students the opportunity to try the sport they may take it up as an extra-curricular activity.  Golf is also an excellent form of exercise and good for improving hand / eye co-ordination.

PGA Professional, Joel Rodwell said:

“I’m a former student at CTK and would have loved to have been able to play golf with class friends. It has been a pleasure working with the children, some of who are already showing prospect.

In the three sessions I have witnessed a significant improvement within the group and I hope they can to put these skills into practice over the summer holidays.”
