Cholmondeley Classic Car Show

by
5th September 2016

Sunday 4th September yet another early start for West Lancs MG Owners Club with us all meeting up at 8.30am in the car park at Starbucks four lane ends Bickerstaff for a 1 hour and 15 minute drive to Cholmondeley Castle just off the A49 in deepest Cheshire.

In all 14 members and 8 cars turned out for this event and considering this was the third social or car show in four days was quite a good turn out (we do like to keep busy at W.L.MG.O.C).

We arrived at the show ground at 9.45am and what a spectacular sight it was with the back drop of the castle in the distance this is one of the largest one day shows in the north-west with over 1,000 cars or motorcycles on display with also a good selection of traders selling parts and auto jumble.

The weather was overcast and a little chilly when we arrived which we were thankful for considering the heavy rainfall we had during the night but the weather forecast was for sunny intervals come mid morning onwards and needless to say it didn’t disappoint us and warmed up nicely when the sun shone through for most of the afternoon.

So without further ado we started setting up camp by putting up the (wig-wam of love) this always gets us a laugh amongst the members as we to and fro trying to sort out where all the pieces fit.

The members have a well earned mid morning break in the wig-wam of love.

With our shelter now in place the show had started to let the public in and are display of cars consisted of 3 MGB’s,1 RV8,3 MGB-GT’s and 1 MGF.

The show came to a close at five o’clock with the members having yet another laugh this time taking down our shelter for the day and all that remained was the drive home but this time with the top well and truly down so as to enjoy the last of the sunshine of a great day out with plenty of laughter still ringing in the ears.

If you have a classic car and live local why not check us out we meet every third Thursday of the month at Briars Hall Lathom, Nr Ormskirk L40 5TH. www.westlancsmg.co.uk
